A designer dog bed doesn’t have to cost the Earth. The Mare Dog Bed is made in partnership with the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE. The cover of this environmentally friendly dog bed is made from certified SEAQUAL® YARN, a unique polyester fibre made from Upcycled Marine Plastic from our oceans, beaches and landfills.

The interior of every MiaCara dog bed is crafted to the same exacting standards as its exterior, delivering exceptional comfort, lasting support and a commitment to sustainability. A recycled orthopaedic memory foam mattress conforms to your dog's body, providing superior spinal alignment and gentle joint relief. The generously padded side bolsters, filled with recycled high-performance foam, cradle your dog's head while maintaining the bed's structured shape wash after wash, year after year.

The Mare Dog Bed comes in two colours: Sand and Kelp, inspired by the origin of the bed and chosen to complement any interior style.

Inner Cushion Sides

60° C gentle wash cycle

The cushion filling is made of extremely soft, open cell foam. To ensure longevity, the cushion should be maintained and cleaned accordingly.

Launder the inner cushion with a mild detergent up to 60° C. We do not recommend that you use chlorinated and chemically aggressive washing products. A brownish discolouration of the foam cannot be avoided, but has no effect on the quality of the foam.

After washing and rinsing, please remove as much water as possible with the spin cycle. The inner cushion is best air-dried on a rack. It can also be tumble dried at 60° C, but please avoid over-drying.

Please plump up the inner cushion regularly so that it retains its fluffiness and shape.

Mattress

30° C gentle wash cycle

Wet wash with a mild detergent at temperatures up to 30° C. Do not use highly chlorinated or chemically aggressive washing additives as this can damage the memory foam when drying.

After washing and rinsing please remove as much water as possible through the spin cycle. The mattress can be best dried by air on a rack. It can also be tumble dried at 60° C.

Cover

The fabric is washable at 60 ° C or can be dry cleaned. After washing, best let the cover air dry on a rack. Do not put the cover in the dryer. If needed, iron the fabric at low level.

Please note that by intensive use the surface of the fabric may be roughened and lint nodules can form (so called pilling). This cannot entirely be prevented and is therefore no reason for complaint.

For simple and uncomplicated cleaning in between, simply vacuum the cover with an upholstery brush.

Every year 12 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans. 9 million tons of plastics entering the oceans are macroplastics, such as water bottles, shopping bags or straws and cutlery. The plastic remains in our ecosystem for up to 500 years, harming thousands of sea creatures every day. Left alone, these plastics will break down into microplastics which enter the very beginning of the food chain, permeating through all species, including ourselves.

SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is a unique collaborative community that works with NGOs, fishermen, authorities and local communities to help clean our oceans. Marine litter from our beaches, ocean floor and surface, rivers and estuaries, is collected by clean-up programs. It is then sorted into different material types and the plastic portion is cleaned and transformed into Upcycled Marine Plastic.

Together with other post-consumer PET, Upcycled Marine Plastic is processed into durable SEAQUAL® YARN, which is then used in products such as our Mare dog cushion. Made from 100% recycled materials, every kilo of the special polyester yarn is equivalent to about 1 kilo of marine litter and emits 32% less CO2 than comparable products.
