A well-fitting harness is crucial for our hikes. On challenging trails, it helps secure Lotte and evenly distributes any pulling, especially if she suddenly bolts with excitement. I also pack snacks and water for both of us — essential for longer trips and warm days. Plus, I bring poop bags, which I store in the Sacchetto poop bag dispenser attached to my bag.

Before embarking on longer trips or more demanding hikes with Lotte, I always check the trail conditions to match our fitness levels. In summer, I avoid the peak heat of the day and prefer cooler elevations, sometimes reached comfortably by gondola. Regular breaks are important for us to enjoy the surroundings and relax. For Lotte, I use the Bottiglia water bottle and the practical Piega travel bowl, which folds up for easy storage. Also, tick protection is crucial in this region due to the risk of FSME (tick-borne encephalitis).

The ‘Panoramaweg Bodensee’ between Meersburg and Hagnau is one of our favourite trails. This 5 km high trail offers breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It winds through picturesque vineyards and has beautiful viewpoints for relaxed breaks. Meersburg, with its medieval castle and charming old town, and the idyllic Hagnau are ideal stops. For the return journey, you can choose between the high trail and a scenic lakeside path. Especially in the off-season or early in the day, the route is less crowded and more enjoyable.

These outings are little adventures in my everyday life. Discovering new places with Lotte, relaxing, and enjoying nature strengthens our bond and creates countless moments I cherish.
